Cracker Barrel Cheddar & Ham Waffle Sandwich

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS

For the Waffles

8 tbsp. Unsalted butter
1¾ cups All-purpose flour
1 tsp. Baking powder
1 tsp. Kosher salt
2 Eggs
8 oz. Whole milk
8 oz. Cold water
1 cup Cracker Barrel Medium Cheddar Shreds
   

For the Sandwiches

8 slices Smoked ham, sliced thin
8 slices Cracker Barrel Sharp Cheddar Slices
4 tsp. Dijon mustard
  Maple syrup for drizzling
   

METHOD

For the Waffles

  1. Melt the butter.
     
  2. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
     
  3. In a large bowl, whisk eggs with milk. Slowly add dry ingredients while whisking.
     
  4. Add butter to mixture. Whisk until fully incorporated. Slowly add water, whisking to combine.
     
  5. Add Cheddar shreds, whisking to combine.
     
  6. Cook waffles according to waffle maker's directions, then set aside.
     
  7. Break into quarters once cooled.

 

For the Sandwiches

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
     
  2. Layer half of the waffle quarters with 2 ham slices and 2 Cheddar slices.
     
  3. Spread remaining waffle quarters with mustard, then place on top to form sandwiches.
     
  4. Place in oven until Cheddar melts and sandwiches are heated through.
     
  5. Drizzle each with maple syrup.
